This gorgeous chess set depicts Pisans and the Venetians around the time period of 1256. The meticulous detail on the chessmen is all done by hand. The pieces depict the dress from the period around 1256 with exceptional detail. The added detail is the castles on the Pisa side which tilt to one side, just as the actual one in Italy. The pieces are solid marble resin (crushed alabaster), hand painted by Italian artisans with felted bottoms. Made in Italy.
- Pisa King: 4 1/4". Venice King: 4 1/8". The diameter of the chessmen is 1 5/8".
- Note: As a general rule the base diameter of your chessmen should be 1/4" smaller than the size of the squares on your chess board.
