This gorgeous chess set depicts Pisans and the Venetians around the time period of 1256. The meticulous detail on the chessmen is all done by hand. The pieces depict the dress from the period around 1256 with exceptional detail. The added detail is the castles on the Pisa side which tilt to one side, just as the actual one in Italy. The pieces are solid marble resin (crushed alabaster), hand painted by Italian artisans with felted bottoms. The chess board is maple & walnut with a high gloss finish, imported from Spain. This is a set to leave on display on your coffee table, game room or study just as you would an expensive piece of crystal. This will be the center of attention in any room you place it in.
